Meral Şimşek: Kurdish songs of pomegranate stains

Meral Şimşek is a Kurdish author of prose and poetry, she lives in Turkey. Her poetry books include Mülteci Düşler (Refugee Dreams, 2013), Ateşe Bulut Yağdıran (Clouding the Fire, 2015) a İncir Karası (Black Fig, 2017). Her first novel Nar Lekesi (Pomegranate Stain) was published in 2017. Şimşek won the Martyr Deniz Fırat Turkish Poetry Prize and placed second two times. In 2018 she was awarded the title of Best Poet in Diyarbakır's Golden Earth Awards. She’s working as a journalist and editor, but she is also a songwriter.
