Navarana Lennert-Andersen: Dog sledding as a way of understanding the world, oneself, and the relationship to nature

Navarana Lennert Andersen is a Greenlandic writer and teacher from Sisimiut who specialises in children’s literature and in preserving traditional culture connected with sled dogs and life in the Arctic landscape. Her work draws on a family tradition of dog sledding, which she inherited from her father and grandfather. Her interest in these values led her to write the book Aataa, Anori og slædehundene (Aataa, Anori and the Sled Dogs), which introduces children to the care of dogs as well as to the significance of this tradition in Greenlandic society. The book has been published to positive acclaim in Greenlandic, Danish, and English.
