Nauja Lynge is a Greenlandic-Danish writer, journalist, and academic who has long focused on issues concerning Greenland, the Arctic, and the Danish Realm. Since 2005, she has been engaged in storytelling and public debate, consistently striving for a deeper understanding of the living conditions, identity, and perspectives of Greenlanders in a globalised world. In her books, often crime thrillers, she combines personal experience with political reflection, addressing sensitive topics related to the relationship between Greenland and Denmark. Her titles include Rigsfællesskab til debat (The Danish Realm for Debate, 2012), Ivalu’s Color (2017), Jeg er Nauja. En grønlandsdanskers bekendelser (I Am Nauja: Confessions of a Greenlandic Dane, 2018), Opgangen (The Stairwell, 2021), Toppen af isbjerget (The Tip of the Iceberg, 2022), and Grønlandseksperimentet (The Greenland Experiment, 2025). The latter thriller deals with the case of the unlawful insertion of intrauterine devices in Greenlandic women. In her latest novel Splittelse (Separation, 2026), written before the current diplomatic crisis, a prominent American politician attempts to annex Greenland to the United States. Nauja Lynge is a prominent voice in debates about the role of the Arctic in global politics as well as the position of minorities in Denmark. She has served, among other roles, as vice-chair of the Inge and Hans Lynge Foundation, a member of the Ethnic Forum at the Danish Institute for Human Rights, and chair of the association Rigsfællesskabet. Through her work, she has long contributed to making the Greenlandic voice more heard—and better understood—within Danish society.
