Milan Uhde & Miloš Štědroň: The bandits remember

Two doyens of Brno culture: the musicologist and composer Miloš Štědroň (1942) and the playwright and essayist Milan Uhde (1936) first joined creative forces on the film Balada pro banditu (Ballad for a Bandit, 1978). Since then, each has pursued a wide range of activities across literature, the arts, as well as public life—Uhde served as Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic from 1990 to 1992, while Štědroň has for decades also been an active karate practitioner. Both have also reflected on their lives and work in book form: Rozpomínky. Co na sebe vím (Memoirs: What I Know About Myself, Uhde, 2013) and Bandita pro brněnskou baladu (A Bandit for the Brno Ballad, Štědroň with Jiří Kamen, 2023).
