Katti Frederiksen (1982, Narsaq) is a writer, poet, linguist, and politician who actively supports the Greenlandic language and culture through her work. She studied Greenlandic, literature, and communication at Ilisimatusarfik (the University of Greenland). She founded the publishing house Iperaq, focusing on literature for children and young adults, and served on the Greenland Language Council, including as its director from 2015 to 2020. In 2020, she was appointed Minister for Education, Culture and Church. She is the recipient of the Vigdís Prize (2021) and the author of the successful children’s book Issittumi aputip naasunngua (Snowdrop in the Arctic, 2023). She has three children and is among the country’s leading marathon runners. She is also the vice-chair of the Greenlandic Writers’ Association (Kalaallit Atuakkiortut). For adult readers, she has published two books of short stories and poetry, Uummatima kissaa (The Warmth of My Heart, 2006), and the poetry collection 100% Eskimo Inuk (2012).
