Lukáš Balabán: Grotesque & tender

Born in 1985 in Ostrava. He studied (but did not complete) English at Masaryk University in Brno. A journalist, translator, and moderator. In his own words, “by occupation an Okiňák, otherwise a YouTuber, musician, occasional poet. A former Christian, now an atheist, a sceptic, a leftist, in many ways a naive dreamer—the kind of scribbler who will be telling you about planets until you’re red with anger.” In 2025, his first prose work Román pro pitomce (A Novel for Fools) was published. The publisher characterises it as follows: “It is, of course, about his father—a rough, Ostrava-style, grotesque and tender generational confession.”
