Klára Kubíčková: My whole life

Born in Třebíč. She studied sociology and journalism at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University in Brno. She worked in promotion at the Host publishing house and as a journalist (for the newspapers Rovnost and Mf Dnes, and the weekly Vlasta). She has published the books … a pak bylo ticho (… and Then There Was Silence, 2022), Kilometry s dětmi (Kilometres with Children, 2022), and Roztěkané (Distracted, 2025, with Jana Srncová; Magnesia Litera for Journalism, 2026). “When I was forty-two,” she said in an interview for the Kavárna of Host publishing house, “I ended up at a psychiatrist after a series of panic attacks and tetany. […] After two hours, the psychiatrist told me that yes, depression and anxiety were certainly present, but they were clearly layered on top of unresolved and undiagnosed ADHD. ‘Me? My two sons have ADHD, but I…’—and from that moment on, everything fell into place; thanks to that diagnosis, my whole life suddenly made sense.”
