Ivan Binar: Which way? This way!

Born in 1942 in Boskovice. He studied Czech, history, and art education at the Pedagogical Institute in Ostrava. He then worked as a teacher, editor-in-chief of the magazine Tramp, and collaborated with theatre. Between 1971 and 1973, he was imprisoned for subversion. In 1977, he emigrated to Vienna, where he worked as a translator and a restorer of ceramics. After six years, he moved to Munich, where he was part of the editorial team of Radio Free Europe. In 1994, he returned to Prague. He writes for both children and adults and has published around thirty books, most recently Cesta do Meksika (Journey to Mexico, 2026), Ve vzduchu a na vodě (In the Air and on the Water, 2024), Kudy? Tudy! (Which Way? This Way!, 2022), Hle, co se přihodilo (Look What Happened, 2021), and Bezstarostná léta bezradná (Carefree Helpless Years, 2020).
