Stanislav Beran: A Non-exhibiting Writer
 – Czechia

Born in 1977 in Jindřichův Hradec, he studied Czech and History at the Faculty of Education at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. He began his career as a teacher, however currently he is a manger in a pharmaceutical company. He made his debut with the poetry collection Zlodům (Evilhouse, 2002), followed by six works of prose (such as Až umřeš, nikdo už ti nebude chtít sahat na prsa (When You Die, Nobody Will Want to Touch Your Breasts), 2007; Kocovina (Hangover), 2019; Schrödingerův hotel (Schrödinger's Hotel), 2023) and the children's book Ztracený v povětří (Lost in the Air, 2023). "Beran is a modest author," as stated in the abstract of Schrödingerův hotel, "yet he is not affraid to add a touch of picturesque magic to the lives of his characters by incorporating real characters and places, frequently accompanied by a robust humour and tragicomedy."
