Petra Hůlová

Born in 1979 in Prague, she studied Mongol studies and cultural studies at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University. She is a publicist, and a writer, the author of the play Buňka číslo (Cell Number, 2016), book for young adults Liščí oči (Fox Eyes, 2021) and eleven books of prose, such as All This Belongs to Me (2002), Stanice Tajga (EndstationTaiga, 2008), Macocha (2014), The Movement (2018) – and Nejvyšší karta (The Highest Card, 2023). To Anežka Dudková's question, "What does the main character, the writer Sylvie Novak, struggle with in the book? And what is the most difficult for her?" Hůlová answered: "There are many things, but essentially it all relates to the fact that she is a woman, a mother, a writer, a feminist, and she's getting older."
